Ah, Oil. So many bangers on this album – it’s tough to pick a favorite. We wanted to go in a different direction than Culture Industry – yes, some live production, but alot of beat-making-production techniques. At times grimy, at times unpolished, this is classic basement hip hop.
The photography for the album art as well as those featured below is a crazy story. Of course in this post 9-11 era no one likes anyone taking pictures of oil infrastructure, even if it is for the sake of hip hop. Once our friends proved to the authorities that they were harmless, they were able to escape with the goods and fenced them to Slick.
